Downtown Mermaid Promenade and Aqua Faire

  • San Marcos Plaza Park 206 N C M Allen Pkwy San Marcos, TX, 78666 United States (map)

On September 21st, expect to see Mermaids and Mermen emerge from the river and come from all around Texas to promenade down the streets of Downtown.  Now in its fourth year, the Downtown Mermaid Promenade brings thousands of Merfolk to the heart of San Marcos. The promenade will start at 10am on CM Allen Parkway near Cheatham and continue until Noon, making a circuit up LBJ Drive and down Edward Gary St.

Following the Mermaid Promenade, the 2019 SPLASH! Festival continues with the Mermaid Aqua Faire from Noon to 6PM at San Marcos Plaza Park. Residents and visitors alike can enjoy live music throughout the day, learn about environmental stewardship at the Eco Village, and stroll through the Mermaid Art Market and the Society Shops.

There is always exceptional value for our membership in events that bring thousands of people into Downtown San Marcos, but the Mermaid Promenade and Aqua Faire are truly special as gatherings that attract people from far and wide to experience San Marcos’ distinctive music, art, and cultural richness all while highlighting our spirit of environmental stewardship.

With all the day’s events either in or a short walk from Downtown, be prepared for residents and visitors alike to spend a full day in Downtown San Marcos visiting your shops and restaurants! All businesses, organizations, and residents are encouraged to consider sponsoring or participating in the Promenade or AquaFaire.

The full two-week Splash Festival kicks off on September 7th and there are a myriad of additional events prior to the Promenade and Aqua Faire on the 21st. This is an excellent time to be involved with the community and promote your business or organization. More information about all the SPLASH Festival’s events can be found on the Mermaid Society’s website at www.mermaidsocietysmtx.com.
